I have always admired those painters who can paint with egg tempera.  Don’t make the mistake of confusing this with something you once did with powdered paints back in grade school.  I am talking about painters who paint on a rigid surface using ground pigments combined with a small amount of egg yolk and water.  The egg provides the glue that adheres the pigment to the painting surface in a permanent fashion.  This is a classical means of painting dating back for centuries.  The detailing and subtle shading using this means of painting can result in breath taking works of art.  If  you are inquisitive and wish to learn more about egg tempera, check out the beautiful paintings on the web site of Brian Keller at www.btkeller.com .

Brian and I have known each other for years.  When Brian comes through Wichita, he stays at the house and we down Irish whiskey while he picks out tunes on his classical guitar.  But Brian’s true talent lies in his ability to capture the beauty of the Rocky Mountains that he loves from an interior perspective looking through an open window.  Check it out.
